Pete Haverick singled to tie the game, and Anthony Haines followed with another single, as Nutley erased a 3-run deficit with two outs in the bottom of the 7th to defeat Somerville HS and advance to the Group 3, Section 2, Championship Game, which will be played at West Morris High School this Friday at 4:00pm.

With the game tied at two after 6 innings, Somerville exploded for three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-2 lead. The Raiders, facing two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 7th, manage to score 4 runs, keyed by a double by Josh O’Neill, and singles from Trevor Santos, Haverick and Haines. Marty Higgins walked and Kevin Hogan reached on an error in the inning.

John Luberto started the game on the mound and was relieved in the second inning by Santos. Josh O’Neill pitched the last two-thirds of the seventh inning and picked up the win for Nutley.

Offensively for Nutley, Josh O’Neill was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored while Trevor Santos had 2 hits, including a triple and an RBI, and Hogan had 2 hits and three RBI’s.
